šŸ‘‘ Welcome to Kingdom Chronicles: Meet Our Cheer Divisions!

Updated: Jul 22, 2025

At Royals Cheer, we believe every athlete deserves a place to grow in confidence, skill, and team spirit—no matter their age or experience. As a recreational cheer program, we offer three unique divisions designed to meet athletes right where they are and help them soar to new heights.

Whether your child is just beginning their cheer journey or ready for more advanced competition, there’s a place for them here in the Kingdom. Let’s break it down:

🐾 Cubs Cheer

Ages:Ā 4–6

Level:Ā 1 Traditional Recreational Cheer

Our youngest athletes begin their cheer adventure in Cubs Cheer! This division introduces little ones to the exciting world of team spirit in a safe, supportive, and FUN environment.

Cubs compete in Level 1 Traditional Recreational Cheer, which means their routine includes clearly outlined sections—highlighting motion technique, jumps, and beginning stunts—with a cheer and chantĀ placed right in the middle. It’s a perfect blend of structure and sparkle for our tiniest Royals.

🦁 Roar Cheer

Ages:Ā 7–12

Level:Ā 1 or 2 Recreational Cheer

Roar Cheer is where things start to level up! Designed for athletes who are ready to build strength, coordination, and confidence, this division blends dance, stunts, tumbling, and sassĀ into one high-energy routine.

Depending on age and ability, athletes in Roar compete in Level 1 or Level 2 Recreational Cheer. Every routine is crafted to challenge the team while still prioritizing safety and growth. It’s loud, it’s proud, and it’s all heart.

šŸ‘‘ RoyaltyĀ (Travel Squad)

Ages:Ā 7–14

Level:Ā 2 or 3 Recreational Cheer

Skill Requirement:Ā Must have a back-walkover

For athletes who want to take their cheer journey on the road, RoyaltyĀ is our elite travel competitive recreational team. This is where passion meets performance!

Royalty competes at a higher level (Level 2 or Level 3), showcasing powerful stunts, tumbling, dance, and spirit. These athletes have mastered foundational skills and are ready to push further—with confidence, teamwork, and fierce commitment.

Because this team travels and competes at a more advanced level, athletes must be able to perform a back-walkoverĀ to be eligible.

Whether you’re watching our Cubs light up the mat for the first time or cheering on our Royalty athletes as they travel and compete, one thing stays the same:

We are one Kingdom—built on encouragement, strength, and joy.

Welcome to the Royals family. Let’s make this season one to remember!

The Importance of Teamwork

One of the most significant aspects of competitive cheerleading is teamwork. Each division at Royals Cheerleading emphasizes the importance of working together to achieve a common goal.

  • Building Trust: Cheerleaders must trust one another to execute stunts safely and effectively. This trust is built through practice and communication.

  • Encouragement: Cheerleaders support each other during performances and practices. This encouragement helps boost confidence and fosters a positive environment.

  • Shared Success: When a team performs well, it is a collective achievement. Each member plays a vital role in the success of the routine.

By promoting teamwork, Royals Cheerleading helps athletes develop essential life skills that extend beyond the mat.

Training and Development

At Royals Cheerleading, we believe in providing our athletes with the best training and development opportunities. Each division has a tailored training program that focuses on skill development, conditioning, and performance preparation.

Skill Development

Skill development is crucial for cheerleaders at all levels. Our experienced coaches work closely with athletes to help them master the necessary skills for their division.

  • Individual Attention: Coaches provide personalized feedback to help each cheerleader improve.

  • Progress Tracking: Athletes can track their progress and set goals for their development.

  • Skill Workshops: We offer workshops that focus on specific skills, such as tumbling or stunting, to help athletes enhance their abilities.

Conditioning

Conditioning is an essential part of cheerleading training. It helps athletes build strength, flexibility, and endurance, which are vital for performing routines safely and effectively.

  • Strength Training: Cheerleaders participate in strength training exercises to build muscle and improve performance.

  • Flexibility Exercises: Stretching and flexibility exercises are incorporated into training to prevent injuries and enhance movement.

  • Endurance Training: Cheerleaders engage in cardio workouts to improve their stamina for longer routines.

Performance Preparation

As competitions approach, performance preparation becomes a top priority. Each division focuses on perfecting routines and ensuring athletes are ready to shine on stage.

  • Mock Competitions: We hold mock competitions to simulate the competition environment and help athletes gain experience.

  • Routine Refinement: Coaches work with teams to refine their routines, focusing on timing, synchronization, and overall performance quality.

  • Mental Preparation: Athletes learn techniques to manage nerves and stay focused during performances.

The Competitive Cheerleading Experience

Participating in competitive cheerleading at Royals Cheerleading is an enriching experience. Athletes not only develop their cheerleading skills but also create lasting memories and friendships.

Building Lifelong Friendships

Cheerleading is a team sport, and the bonds formed between teammates are often lifelong.

  • Shared Experiences: Cheerleaders go through challenges and triumphs together, creating strong connections.

  • Support System: Teammates become a support system, both on and off the mat.

  • Community: The cheerleading community at Royals Cheerleading is welcoming and inclusive, making it easy for athletes to make friends.

Personal Growth

Competitive cheerleading fosters personal growth in many ways.

  • Confidence: Athletes gain confidence as they learn new skills and perform in front of audiences.

  • Discipline: The commitment required for training and competition teaches discipline and time management.

  • Leadership: Older athletes often take on leadership roles, mentoring younger cheerleaders and developing their leadership skills.
